Welcome

The children, staff and Governors at Our Lady Catholic Primary School offer you a warm welcome.

We are delighted you have expressed an interest in our lovely school. Situated in the east of Welwyn Garden City in the leafy county of Hertfordshire and staffed by a dedicated team of talented and caring professionals, Our Lady offers your child a very special educational experience. Our school is small enough for us to know every child really well, yet big enough that we can offer our children a very wide range of learning opportunities.

Within the friendly-family atmosphere of the school community we promote Christian values of love, respect, tolerance and forgiveness, as revealed to us through the life of Jesus Christ. Our mission statement - ‘We learn to love and love to learn with Jesus' – captures our desire to follow the example of Christ in welcoming, nurturing and developing each individual as a unique and precious gift, created in the image of God. We recognise the dignity of every individual and seek to celebrate the ambitions and talents of all. Our dedicated staff team are committed to doing their very best to support each pupil to grow spiritually, intellectually, socially, emotionally and physically.

We constantly strive for excellence in learning and recognise the importance of providing a broad, balanced and challenging curriculum. We plan learning opportunities based on the premise that every individual is capable of achieving and should be challenged to do their very best. We recognise the importance of nurturing positive relationships and encourage all of our pupils to develop a sense of self-respect, respect for others and for all life. We foster good learning habits and work to build an environment where self-esteem can flourish and pupils can learn self-reliance, together with the skills to promote independent learning. Ultimately, we aim to help our pupils become active, ethical and educated citizens who are fully prepared to assume their role in 21st Century society.

We hope that this website will gives you an insight into the life of our lovely school. Choosing the right school is one of the most important decisions you will make for your child so we strongly believe that there is no substitute for visiting the school to see for yourself, where you will be made to feel very welcome.

Our School Prayer

Dear God
This is our school.
Let peace dwell here.
Let the rooms be full of contentment
Let your love be here.
Love of life, love of one another and love
of you.
Let us remember that, as many hands
build a house, so many hearts make a
school.

Amen.
